Rialto Girls Softball – Frequently Asked Questions

📌 Registration & Eligibility

Who can play? My daughter has never played before.
Rialto Girls Softball is open to all girls ages 4–18 based on USA Softball age‑chart guidelines. Players of every skill level are welcome — including those who have never played before. Our program is designed to teach fundamentals, build confidence, and create a fun, supportive environment for new and returning players alike.

Do I need to register in person?
No. All registration is completed online through our registration system.

Why is early registration encouraged?
We must submit field requests to the City of Rialto early and order uniforms in time for the season. Early registration helps us plan teams, secure fields, and ensure we have enough managers and volunteers.

What is the age requirement?
Divisions are based on the player’s age as of August 31 of the current year. Please refer to the current USA Softball age chart.

What are the age divisions?
• 4U: 3–4 years
• 6U: 5–6 years
• 8U: 7–8 years
• 10U: 9–10 years
• 12U: 11–12 years
• 14U: 13–14 years
• 18U: 14–18 years
Placement depends on birth year.

Can my daughters play on the same team?
Yes, if they qualify for the same age division.

Can my player move up a division?
Yes. During registration, there is a question asking whether you would like your player to be considered for a higher division. Selecting this option allows the league to review the request. Placement is not guaranteed and may depend on player safety, skill evaluation, and division availability.

Do non residents need to register early?
It’s not required, but it is highly recommended. Rialto residents receive placement priority, so non‑residents on the waitlist may be moved behind Rialto residents if space becomes limited. Registering early gives non‑resident players the best chance of securing a spot.

📌 After You Register

I registered my daughter. What happens next?
After registration closes and teams are drafted, your daughter’s manager will contact you — usually within a week of the draft.

When will I be notified about practices?
Managers typically contact families the night of the draft or the following day.

What if I’m on the waitlist?
You will only be charged if a roster spot opens and your player is placed on a team. Placement is based on waitlist order.

📌 Fees, Refunds & Discounts

What do registration fees cover?
Fees help cover:
• Uniform jersey/socks
• USA Softball insurance
• Softballs and equipment
• Umpire fees (6U–18U)
• Field rental and maintenance
• Utilities and lighting
• Picture packages (spring season)
• Medals, awards, and league operating costs

Why might fees increase from previous seasons?
Costs can vary due to changes in uniform pricing, umpire fees, insurance, and lighting costs.

Why are 4U fees lower?
4U does not use USA Softball–certified umpires, which significantly reduces overall league costs for that division.

Is there a sibling discount?
Not at this time

What is the refund policy?
Refunds are processed within 10–14 business days once approved.
• Before assessments: 100% refund
• Before the draft: 75% refund
• After the draft: No refunds will be issued — no exceptions

📌 Season Information

When are the regular seasons?
Fall: August to November
Spring: February to May
18U begins in May to allow the High School teams to finish their season

Where are practices and games held?
Practices and games are held at Frisbie Park.

📌 Equipment & Requirements

Do I need to show a birth certificate?
Yes. You may upload your player’s birth certificate during online registration, or you can present it at assessment check in. We also accept other forms of age verification such as a passport, immunization record, or school documents that clearly show the player’s date of birth.

What equipment does my daughter need?
• Softball helmet
• Softball bat (must meet USA Softball standards)
• Softball glove
• Cleats
• Softball pants (color chosen by the team)

📌Snack Bar Requirement

Is there a snack bar requirement?
Yes. Each family is required to complete one snack bar shift per registered player during the season. This helps support league operations and keeps our snack bar running smoothly for all teams.

Can I opt out of snack bar duty?
Yes. Families may choose to opt out by paying a $60 buyout fee at the time of registration. Selecting this option means you will not be assigned a snack bar shift.

How will I know my snack bar shift?
Snack bar assignments are typically scheduled after teams are formed. Your team manager or team parent will notify you of your shift date and time.

📌 Special Requests

Can I request a specific coach or teammate?
No. We do not accept requests for specific coaches or teammates. However, you may request not to return to a previous manager. While we do our best to honor those situations, they are not guaranteed, as draft rules and team‑balancing requirements take priority.

Can I make special requests for cousins, carpool partners, or family friends to be placed together?
At this time, we cannot guarantee placement based on special requests such as cousins, carpool arrangements, or family friends. The only guaranteed placements are for direct siblings, step siblings, adopted siblings, or players under the same legal guardianship. Proof of relation or guardianship may be requested and verified by the league.

📌 Volunteer Information

Can I volunteer to manage or coach a team?
Yes. We welcome volunteers who want to manage or coach. Experience is always helpful. Our league provides guidance and support to help new coaches succeed.

Do volunteers need a background check?
Yes. All volunteers — including managers, coaches, and team parents — must complete a background check as part of the league’s required safety process. This is mandatory for anyone serving in a volunteer role that interacts with players.

Do volunteers need to complete SafeSport training?
Yes. All volunteers must complete the USA Softball SafeSport training program. This training helps ensure a safe, positive environment for every player.

Does the league provide equipment for managers or coaches?
Yes. We loan out coaching equipment to managers as needed. This may include practice balls, catcher's gear, tees, and other essential items.
